When the Verse Goes Sideways: Introducing MAYDAY Distress Beacons

Fire a MAYDAY beacon from scorg.org or Discord and alert every online org member with a live klaxon, responder tracking, and ETA tools. Org-scoped rescue for…

There's a moment every pilot knows. Shields drop. Quantum won't spool. The medical bed is a jump away and the hostiles aren't. You open Discord, start typing, mistype the system name, and watch the chat scroll past while your hull screams.

That moment is over.

MAYDAY is SCORG's live distress system built for combat emergencies, stranded ships, medical evacs, and cargo theft. One hold of the red button alerts every online member of your organization on the site and in your org's Discord. Other orgs never see it. Your crisis stays in the family.

Hold to Arm. Fire When You're Sure.

Accidental beacons are worse than silence. That's why MAYDAY uses a deliberate 1.5-second hold before the modal opens. Watch the countdown on the floating red button (lower-right when you're signed into an org): HOLD → ARMED. Then pick a type:

• Combat — under fire, boarding, PvP gone wrong • Stranded — no fuel, no claim, no ride home • Medical — downed, bleeding out, need a bed • Cargo — theft, piracy, lost freight • General — anything that needs bodies now

Add a location ("Yela," "Crusader L1") and a short message if you can. Hit Fire Beacon. The verse gets loud on purpose.

What Your Org Sees

Online members get a full-screen klaxon overlay and siren. They can:

• Responding I'm coming • ETA share arrival time • Acknowledge saw it, can't help right now

Mute the siren, minimize to a corner badge, or dismiss. Only you (or an org admin) can mark the beacon Rescued and clear it for everyone.

The same call posts to your Discord MAYDAY channel with live responder counts and timestamps that show in each viewer's local time. Prefer Discord? Fire from chat with /mayday type, location, message. Open scorg.org later and it already knows you responded: no double-blast across devices.

Built for Real Ops, Not Spam

• 10-minute cooldown between beacons per pilot • Org-scoped only — never leaks to rival orgs • Admins can disable MAYDAY for RP nights or ban abusers • Lifetime rescue stats on your profile beacons fired, rescues joined, fastest response

How to Use It Tonight

  1. Sign in, select your org, confirm the red MAYDAY button is visible.
  2. Hold 1.5 seconds → choose type → optional location/message → Fire.
  3. When someone else's beacon hits: Respond, ETA, or Acknowledge.
  4. Caller (or admin) marks Rescued when the dust settles.
  5. Optional: practice /mayday in Discord so muscle memory exists before a real fight.

Why It Matters for Your Org

Orgs win on response time. MAYDAY beats "someone check #general" by the only metric that matters when shields are red: seconds. Wingmates who aren't staring at Discord still get the klaxon on the site. Medics, escorts, and haulers stop guessing and start moving.

Final Approach

The verse is dangerous by design. Your org doesn't have to be. Hold the button. Fire the beacon. Bring them home.

Clear skies and may your MAYDAYs be rare.
