Star Citizen Quick Progression Guide 2026: From Wipe to Verse Dominator (Alpha 4.8 Live)
Welcome back to the ‘verse, Citizen! Patch 4.8 is here with a full wipe — aUEC, reputation, vehicles, items, and most rewards reset (blueprints survive). This is your fresh-start blueprint for fast progression in the new economy, crafting system, refueling gameplay, and **Tactical Strike Groups.
Last Updated: May 13, 2026
Full wipe confirmed — everything restarts except pledged ships + your unlocked blueprints. Focus on knowledge, blueprints, and systems that persist.
Phase 1: First 30–60 Minutes – Clean Restart
- Complete the tutorial for basic gear and starter credits.
- Spawn at Area18 (ArcCorp) or New Babbage — best mission access and shops.
- Master Inventory 2.0 — drag, double-click, store excess in hab/ship. Stock medpens, ammo, and Cruz.
- Grab free starter gear and accept missions via mobiGlas → Contracts.
- Always take A Call to Arms for easy bonus credits on pirate kills.
Pro Tip: Use the improved transport system (trams, trains, elevators) — it’s more reliable now.
Phase 2: Fastest Early Money (First 100k–1M+ aUEC Post-Wipe)
Everyone starts equal. Current strong loops for 4.8:
- Bunker Missions (Mercenary): Reliable, good loot for resale, builds rep fast.
- Delivery/Courier Runs: Low-risk quantum practice.
- Entry Bounty Hunting: Ground/ship targets for combat skills + rep.
- Quick Hauling Contracts: Rent a Hull-A or similar, tractor beam runs between cities and orbitals — many players hit first million quickly this way.
- Salvage (Vulture or rented): Panels and cargo — steady and chill.
Goal: Reach 200–500k fast → rent a Prospector, RAFT, or Cutlass Black.
Post-wipe meta: Focus on rep-building missions (e.g., Shubin Interstellar) and simple cargo/hauling. Expect strong early earnings from combat training or salvage.
Phase 3: Reputation & Unlocking Better Content
Reputation resets, so grind smart:
- Stick to the same factions/companies for chained, higher-paying contracts.
- Wikelo contracts return with new offerings (e.g., L-22 Alpha Wolf rewards).
- Build toward Tactical Strike Groups access — these are rep-gated group events in Nyx (QV Extraction Stations).
Higher rep = better missions, less risk, access to advanced loops.
Phase 4: Mid-Game – Crafting, Blueprints & Ship Upgrades (The Real Meta)
Crafting is king in 4.8. Blueprints are permanent progression.
Blueprint Strategy:
- Hunt via missions (Xenothreat, Wikelo, etc.), datapads, or stores.
- Prioritize ship components first: Power plants, shields, coolers, quantum drives, radars.
- Upgrade blueprints through tiers (1–5) for better stats — test low-tier first.
- Save high-quality materials from mining/salvage — don’t sell everything raw.
Recommended Early Blueprints (focus these):
- S1/S2 Power Plants (Quadracell, Slipstream, etc.)
- Coolers (VaporBlock, Avalanche)
- Shields, Quantum Drives, Radars
- Mining lasers for better yield
Ship Progression:
- Starter → Rented Prospector/RAFT → Buy small hauler/fighter.
- Mid-game: Cutlass, Freelancer, or dedicated miner.
- Use new Hangar Services, refueling improvements, and vehicle loadouts (save claims via ASOP terminals).
Pro Tip: Join (or create) an org on scorg.org immediately. Group play unlocks Tactical Strike Groups faster — multi-role fleets with fighters, support, refuelers, and FPS teams.
Phase 5: Advanced Loops & Endgame Goals
- Crafting & Refining: Gather, refine alloys, craft upgraded components/weapons/armor. Player trading is expanding.
- Mining & Salvage: High-quality rocks + efficient scrapping.
- Trading/Cargo: Dynamic routes with new tools.
- Tactical Strike Groups (new 4.8 feature): Big cooperative raids in Nyx. Bring diverse fleet — fighters, command modules, refuelers. Trench runs, objectives, FPS elements. Extremely rewarding with orgs.
- Refueling Missions: New gameplay — service NPCs or players.
- Events: DefenseCon / Fleet Week (May 2026) — free-fly ships and sales.
Common Pitfalls in 4.8
- Don’t sell premium materials — hoard for crafting.
- Manage inventory ruthlessly (new folder/naming features help).
- Use bed logging sparingly; stations are safer.
- Watch crimestat — hurts rep.
- Claim vehicles wisely — new bricking timers and loadout saves.
- Experiment: 4.8 is about testing the new economy.
